Doctor Profile:
Dr Tan Bo Chuan is a Senior Consultant Surgeon at the Clinic for Digestive Surgery, practising at both Mount Elizabeth Novena and Mount Alvernia Hospitals. He specialises in minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery, focusing on cancer, metabolic conditions, and the use of endoscopy in managing digestive disorders. Dr Tan completed his surgical training in Singapore and underwent a fellowship in upper gastrointestinal surgery at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. He previously led the Upper GI & Bariatric Surgery Unit and served as Clinical Director of the ICOD Centre at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where he was recognised with the NHG Gold Award for excellence in multidisciplinary obesity care. Alongside his clinical roles, he has lectured at the medical schools of both the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University, and he is also a proctor for laparoscopic surgery training programmes. Dr Tan is fluent in English, Mandarin, Bahasa Melayu, Hokkien, and Cantonese.
• Topic 2: “Do I have Familial Hypercholesterolaemia?”
Talk Synopsis: Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH) has become a recent focus as part of MOH’s effort to enhance primary and preventive care. FH is more common than what we think – someone with FH has a higher risk of major adverse cardiovascular events. It is important to detect FH early and then, if needed, intervene early to reduce the complications related to FH. Come and find out all about FH – do you have it? How to test for it and what the next steps should be.

Doctor Profile:
Dr Caron Sak is a family physician with a strong interest in personalised and preventive medicine. She graduated from the University of Leeds with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB, UK) in 1997 and later obtained a Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine (GDFM, NUS) in 2013. Dr Caron brings extensive experience in preventive health and chronic disease management, including diabetes remission, obesity, mental health, and women’s health. She is particularly interested in the role of nutrition and exercise in overall well-being, as well as the complex interplay between genetics and health.

Doctor Profile:
Dr Pang Yu Zhi is a neurologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore, with over 15 years of experience, specialising in stroke, headache management, and neurophysiology. Formerly a consultant at the National Neuroscience Institute, he has managed a wide range of neurological conditions, including dementia, trigeminal neuralgia, migraine, and Parkinson’s disease, while also contributing to hyperacute stroke care involving thrombolysis and thrombectomy. At Sengkang General Hospital, he led the development of the hyperacute stroke service. In addition to his clinical work, Dr Pang mentors junior doctors and actively contributes to neurology research through regular publications.

2.Redemption Process:
• Redemption must be done on-site during the event day.
